The month of January i have been running a algea scrubber from the start but never got green algea to grow just red and slim. I figured it might take awhile. It is a diy ats . Now here is where the fun starts . White LED,s will not grow green hair algea. You need red ,some green and a couple blues. But red will do the trick. Well my tank light out competed my ats light so hair algea in the main tank. So I tried vibrant it works after 7 weeks of dosing hair algea melted..
Now what do you think happened yep cyano. So here comes the chemiclean dose wait 48 hours 25% water change. Start activated carbon. And protein skimmer. All good . Nope phosphate .00 nitrates .04 yep dinos . So I studied up on them they show up if you have ultra low nutrients. After putting in a 40 watt grow lamp green algea covered my screens. And was striping all my nutrients. Plus after chemiclean it probably killed my good bacteria. So I dosed 3%hydrogen peroxide for a week lights down to blues only all the way down. Siphoning out what I can every day. After the week of peroxide i took my skimmer off line and started Dr. Tims eco balance. And started feeding more to get phosphates to .05 so far it looks good again.

Thank you. I am not going to give up this time. So I have to learn even though it might be the hard way. This is my 3rd go at it. First one ended in a fire. Second one ended to red flat worms.

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

if you get flat worms again, since I had them I know this is a treatment that works:
