Latz Clowns

According to PIA, the minimum tank size is 30 gallons, but I'd be worried about them being aggressive toward other fish in a tank that size.

Yup the tank is fine but be cautious of anything else you put in there...clowns will be very territorial.

Are they juvenile or adult clowns?

That might be tight for a full size pair of latz.

I have seen females that are close to the size of my hand. Beefy. If they are juvenile captive breds youll be fine but when they bigger dont plan on keep anything else with them.

Try Ian here on Reef2Reef. His name is Ian his company is Reef Odyssey. I've got livestock from him before it was always awesome stuff and easy to deal with. I remember he had some Latz not too long ago ;) Hope it works out well for you post some pics when you get em.

If you get them a bta and they are juveniles, they should be fine until they become adults. Mine are in a 120gallons and they never leave the bta. You will end up paying $100-150 per latz.

i have a large juvi pair i want to sell. they are misbars though. these were bred before people had success with breeding the full bars. pm me and we can talk if you want a pair. i'll send you some pics.

Def not i got my captive bred latz for 225 for a pair. They were buy one get one free.

More expensive doesnt mean poop. Vendors all pay the same price, their markup is what differs.

Some people have more expensive overhead and some dont because they are basement shops.

So theirs are better because they are more expensive? lol

It's their qt process that makes the difference. I believe all fish go through an 8 week qt. I've never heard of any other place that does that long of a qt before selling the fish. I'm sure that's where the extra money comes into play. If I were buying expensive fish like that I'd personally like to know that they have been through a long qt process.

Id beg to differ in the case of captive bred clowns JSK.

The clowns are captive bred and very hardy. They dont require a normal QT since they have already been QT'd throught their whole short lives in a Aquaculture facility in Hawaii. They were born in a facility and have never seen a real ocean.

I can understand Ibluewater boasting about their QT on Wild caught clowns but not on these as a selling point.

I also have to tell the truth in the case of clownfish, im my expeirence QT a wild caught clownfish in regular QT conditions is more detrimental to the fish them putting them in a tank.

I have a 90 percent success rate with version of QT, two losses were a DOA shipment.

Otherwise i have never lost a wild caught clownfish with my version of QT.

Yeah. Kinda like if you go to a fragswap things are cheaper. You need to find the right person at the right time to get a deal. I'm prob gonna go with PIA once I com up with the money

$400 is a little excessive. There is no "pay for what you get" on these CB Latz. Go with PIA. I have two from there and can vouch that they are good quality and I paid less than $800!

The OP never mentioned anything about tank bred clowns so i thought he was looking for wc. I agree the qt process on a captive bred fish doesn't mean much since they are basically qt'd from the get go. There are many different ways to qt a fish so your version of qt may be different from someone elses. Having said that how do you qt new additions. Just curious.
