So yesterday all was good. Go to feed fish today and my lavender tang has a 1/4" white raises patch on one side of its chin. Looking closer and it appears it on the same side fin. Some sort of fungus? It is in a qt tank with an eel. So any medications that can be dosed with an eel or do I need to separate the two? If it is a fungus how do I treat it?

Maybe it got too close to the eel? These things are dang near blind as far as I know. If that tang was lingering I could see the eel striking. A wound in what is supposed to be a sterile environment could turn into something else. How big is that QT tank btw?

It could be an infection of some sort. Fungus isn't something you normally see in saltwater. Cloak has a point about the eel maybe taking a bite out of him and the bite getting infected. I've never tried antibiotics with an eel, but I can't really think of a reason that they can't handle it. I'd dose Kanaplex or Furan 2 (according to the directions on the package) for a minimum of 10 days or as long as it takes for the symptoms to clear

The tang was in my dt. Once I saw the tang this morning I placed it in my qt tank were the eel has been for the past two weeks. Didn't really want the tang pushing anything to the others since I see nothing on other tank mates right now. I have another qt that could be set up quick. Should I remove eel?

If you don't want to expose the eel to antibiotics then remove him. I would go forward with the course of meds on the tang and do it pretty quick. Infections can go badly very quickly.

So one other question do I use both the kanaplex and the furan-2 together. If not which one is the go to as I have both.

You can use both together. It will widen the spectrum for you. Just follow the directions on each package and do this for 10 days (minimum) or until symptoms clear up (longer than 10 days). Keep plenty of O2 in the water with an airstone or small powerhead pointed at the surface of the water.
