Was the starfish dead?

No, he was alive. He came out from under the rock work and was moving along the sand and the blenny attacked him and ate atleast half if not a bit more.

What type of starfish was it?

Heres a pic, hes actually still alive and moved away. Unreal.

Blennys can be territorial of their “hideout”. Its possible the starfish wandered to close and was too slow to move out.

Serpent star, can regenerate if the blenny slows down eating.
I’d recommend rehoming the blenny or the starfish if you want the Starfish to live much longer.

Thanks for the info. Didnt know he would eat anything other then algae.
