Lawnmower blenny acting strange

guys, my lawnmower blenny been acting strange. Swimming around, rubbing its side against sand, rocks. Occasionally tries to bite its own tail. He eats like a pig and all other fish and corals are doing fine (borb anthia, tailspot blenny, pair of clowns, bartlet anthias, etc). Last time I added fish (after more than a month in QT) was almost 4 mos ago. I have had this guy from day 1, he was the first inhabitant.

I have searched the web, some people say it could be parasites, some say blennies just act weird sometimes, including rubbing against sand/rocks. Thoughts on what to do? No signs of illness on him or other fish otherwise. Again, all behaving and eating well. Thanks, guys.

They do act odd at times. Mine used to. It could be parasites but could just be acting nutty.

Any other fish? Id play the monitoring game personally.

If really concerned try a fresh water bath and see if it relieves symptoms.

Im still edging towards nutty fish though I miss my blenny.

Thanks, no other fish are impacted and this is not the first time, he has been doing this on and off for a few weeks. No external signs, etc. i am leaning towards nutiness just because I have not introduced any new fish in 4 mos and all corals go through dipping. I will keep a close eye on him. Thanks.

Yeah they are a bit mental. Im sure your fine but keep an eye on him. As i say a fw bath is a good first step to take if you suspect nasties as its not overly intense and doesnt cost anything.

This little guy is something. Our kids love him. It is strange when you have fish that cost $300, yet, the one with the most engaging personality is the one I got as a freebie from one of the websites where I bought some corals. Same with tailspot blenny, awesome curious personality.

Having identical symptoms. He seems like he’s out and about swimming more than perching like before.

When I saw the thread title I thought "what is odd behavior for an LMB"? LOL

Love LMBs my first fish too, had him for almost 5 years before my Kole decided they competed for the same food and chased him into starvation. I added a new LMB to my other tank and I'm enjoying the LMB personality again. Good Luck!

I was curious how your fish is doing? Mine is also doing exactly what you mentioned with biting it’s own tail and rubbing the sand. I’m a bit concerned and decided to Google it and came across this thread. Hoping everything turned out fine for you so I can be more at ease with how it is acting.

How is your fish doing? Like I said in my other comment I am having the same issue. Curious if it is something I need to be concerned about or if it is just a strange habit for them.

Still does it every once in awhile. Nothing else looks out of hand with him tho
