Thinking of getting a lawnmower blenny for my turf algae. I have a mandarin goby and am getting a watchmen. Are there any compatibility issues with these species?

Also, I have montis and birdsnest and I just read that they sometimes damage these corals when the feed. Is this a big concern?

The Watchmen and Blenny may fight based on them having similar body compositions. My bi-color picks on my firefish on occasion because of this. If it's for your 120 gallon in your build thread there's probably enough space where this isnt an issue though.

I have a lawnmower blenny, a yellow watchman goby, and a scooter blenny, and I have yet to see them be aggressive towards one another. I have a 75 gallon tank. I do keep them well fed which helps.

IMHO, the combination is a great choice. I have had all 3 at the same time in the past and never had a problem with them

I have an orange spot blenny which is also a combtooth, which is what a lawnmower blenny is. My orange spot killed both a yellow watchman and a linear blenny. I believe that some individual fish (just like some humans) can have a mean streak.

BTW, I recently got a tomini tang who seems to be putting the orange spot blenny in his place.

Let's hope I have the same experience because I just got home with a lawnmower and a watchman.

I'm hoping putting them in at the same time in a 120 gallon will minimize the risk.

Thanks everyone.

They'll be fine I have a watchman/pistol shrimp in a 40B and while the LM Blenny looks an awful lot like the Watchman, they don't even seem to notice each other.

That's my biggest reason for getting a watchman. I have had a pistol shrimp for a few weeks and I am dying to see them interact with each other.

Its a pretty cool relationship to watch. I lost my original goby a couple years ago and got a new pink spot watchman goby. The new goby paired right up with the shrimp. I have a clown/nem in the 40B as well. Sort of my symbiotic tank.

Here's a pic of all 3.
