Do lawnmower blenny's like to burrow underneath rocks/substrate? I got one of them about a week ago and it was out for the first two days, eating well and finding new spots to sit around. Then on the third day up until now, I have yet to see him. I have looked all around the tank when the lights are on/off. I currently have him in a 50g sca cube with a lid so I'm positive it did not jump out. The other fish I have in the tank is 2 clownfish and a small melanurus wrasse as well as a firefish. At this point, I am assuming it is dead given that I have not seen it at all in the tank.

Any gaps in your lid? Do you have pets that could have ate the fish while it was on the ground? Check your overflow, it would make sense due to the Blenny slender body shape. The fish may have slipped through into overflow box.

There is a small gap due to the rms mount but I had it covered prior to adding the fish in. I will turn off the return to check the overflow again. I do also have a small puppy that likes to lay around the tank so if it did manage to jump out then it became a snack for my dog.

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I feel for you because I absolutely love my tailspot Blenny. He instantly became my wife’s favorite fish. So much personality and he’s so darn cute.

Well, I found my problem... Lol The next problem I have to deal with is getting him out! There is no room to reach my hand down the overflow and a net barely fits down it, also I can't really turn the net once inside. Any suggestions?

only thing I can think of is a larger tube and using your lungs to pull water and potentially the fish in the tube out of the overflow. Do you have something you use for water change ? How about a stocking or pantyhose? You might be able to attach it to a hanger and convert that into a net.

I will see if I can suck it up with the siphon I use for my water changes!

GL man. Another idea is block your return from the display tank and literally flood him out of there. I hope this helps
