I have had a lawnmower blenny for about 3 months. I have never had this fish before. The tank initially had a lot of algae and after working on it I now have very little. It is mostly the small green film kind on the rocks. How much algae should be present before I get some herbivore food for the blenny? He is the only herbivore in there and he does not respond to pe mysis frozen, pellets, or LRS reef frenzy. He does not appear ill or skinny.

I would start on something like Rods hebivore blend and see about getting an algae clip so you can hang a piece of nori on it. The belly on your fish should be fat.

Thanks, I will check his belly. I have nori around for myself so I can see if he goes for it. I just to hate to add food if there is enough in there for him.

My Lawnmower Blennie gobbles down everything I put in the tank - Mysis Shrimp, Frozen Reef Mix and Dainichi pellets (regular omnivore blend). He still does a good job pecking at algae throughout the day but doesn’t need anything special when feeding.

When I had similar concerns about my Molly Miller Blenny (also an herbivore) my LFS sold me this. All of my fish eat it but the blenny, tangs, and foxface LOVE it. There usually isn't any "leftovers" Might be worth a try.

Mine have always been good about eating most anything I feed including any of the above. To ease new fish like tangs or blennys that might prefer the greens I will usually put some nori on a pvc or rock via a rubber band to give them a grazing option. I get better luck not having un-eaten pieces floating around then when I use a clip and even if they are eating the other stuff, the existing tank mates never seem to complain about the option :D Give it a try, it may be more natural for blenny as well.

mine would eat pellets, hikari marine S worked really well for all my fish even my Manderin loves the stuff!!

Mine eats exactly the same thing and goes crazy for it. It generally eats anything I throw into the tank including homemade food (mix of clams, oysters, shrimp, etc.), but always has a fat belly 24/7 even before I feed.

I have had my lawnmower for about 6 months and in the first few months, it would just graze on algae off rocks, but as the algae started disappearing, it never ceased to have a fat belly which leaves me to believe it was just munching on anything and everything available. I say so long as your lawnmower has a fat belly, I wouldn't worry too much about feeding it anything specifically. They're pretty hardy and adaptable IME.
