As a reefer, it doesn't take much to make me happy when buying corals from a coral shop. Nice corals, decent prices and good customer service and I'm one happy camper. Sadly, these days there are many shops that care too much about the "almighty dollar" and not enough about the actual corals they are selling or the customers they are selling to. Let me explain what happened recently.
Living in southern California, we are fortunate to have many options for purchasing corals, whether it be from local fish stores or garage type frag star millionaires lol. A few weeks ago I went into one shop that happens to be a sponsor here so I won't mention their name, and the corals were so chopped up that I almost asked for a microscope to see what was on the their frag plugs. Needless to say, I left without purchasing anything. Next shop I visited, I was in the shop for approximately 30 minutes and even though there was only one other person in there browsing, the person behind the counter not once asked if we needed help and even though there were a couple of corals I was looking to purchase, I walked out empty handed while the employee stayed fixated on his phone. Third shop I visited had nice corals, the people were friendly and the selection was varied. Finally a shop I was sure to love right? Except I looked at their pricing and while I'm no cheapskate and always willing to drop serious coin on a nice showpiece or collector's coral, I'm also no dummy and when I saw that all their bread and butter stuff was marked up outrageously, I knew it was time to leave.
I went home quite disappointed that day wondering why and when things got so bad in our hobby. But later on that evening, a little voice reminded me that lazyscoralhouse @Lazy had now returned and was open for business as of September 1st I believe. Off to his website I went and sure enough, I found a nice variety of beautiful corals on his site and the prices fit me like a glove. I placed my order and a few days later I received my complete order full of healthy and happy corals that opened up in my tank less than an hour after they went in. I sent Brian aka Lazy a text to let him know how completely satisfied I was with my shipment and like most other vendors he responded with a generic "you're welcome" right? INCORRECT. He then proceeds to show me other goodies that he's had cooking in his frag tanks over the summer. His communication was just as awesome as his corals and pricing. Not once being a pushy salesman, instead more like a friend sharing his sweet collection that just happens to be for sale. After some more texting, I placed yet another order and I just received a text that the order was shipped out today even though I placed my order late yesterday. How amazing is that, right?!
So to make a long story even longer, if you're looking to buy healthy, pest free corals (every dip I have done on his corals always result in ZERO pests) from someone that actually cares about his customers and not just their money (it's obvious through his great communication skills) and you appreciate having a wide variety of corals to choose from (this man does it all, sps/lps/softies) then I strongly recommend you go check out Lazyscoralhouse.com and tell him Jesse sent you. Not that it matters since he treats all his customers with the same dignity and respect. I just said that because it sounds cool. lol
