I've thought of doing that but I'm afraid it'll make too much of a mess. So I just use the turkey baster.

If I got a tiny maxijet and gave it a 10+" hose it may work, but still seems too powerful for sand. For rock, it might be just fine.

With seahorses it is so important not allow excess food/detritus to be trapped or settle on the bottom so I have about 1200 gph of powerhead flow aimed at the bottom of the tank.

After reading @jason2459's posts, I began doing this occasionally. I was getting a bit of cyano and diatoms, based only on appearance in the tank, and @Paul B style hurricanes less the diatom filter have made quite a bit of difference.

I use a turkey baster because I have better control over how much to blast and when to blast the rocks around and on corals. I also use a DE filter when cleaning to pick up all the detritus in the water column as it is pushed out during cleaning.

I use The Reef Blaster to clean EVERYTHING.... its the ultimate Reefers Tool. The inventor is working on the Newest version for the unit does have flaws. It’s my go to for water changes and detritus blower and sump cleaner and about anything u can think of. It’s wireless and bad to the bone. Hook a hose to it and do a super quick water change.

My sand sifting starfish, conch and nassarius snails snails keep my sand bed clean and white as the day it came out of the bag!

I'm trying to find info on the blaster. Know where to look ?

They do not advertise it yet. Like I mentioned... Ray (inventor) here in Sarasota, Florida is waiting on an American made pump housing for the existing is a China pooper... I’ve had for nearly one yr and he’s had to replace 2 times for me. He’s working w some American manufacturer which is making the new mold now. Super pricey venture. They should be ready in next few months. I’ll post up when they’re available. Such a cool little tool, when perfected it will be a Must have. I’m gonna post a video soon showing what it can do. For sure will gather huge interest when seen in action.

Yeah, why not? I use the baster for quick cleans and just pull one of my powerheads off the glass and go nuts a few times a year.

My two Conch snails and the Rainford Goby keep my sand spotless. Rainford sifts all day long and stays close to the sand so it doesn't blow around and make a mess... love this fish! I do use a turkey baster to blow off all the rocks and I stick it in the sand once and a while to percolate and stir it up a bit. I can see using a PH in a larger tank but it would just make a messy storm in my 75g.
