Leak Detection for RO/DI Water Leakage

When I purchased my GHL equipment, I ordered 2 Leak Detectors, one for use in my "RO/DI Room" but later learned that the Leak Detector only works with saltwater. I'm wondering if it is feasible to sprinkle some salt under the pins of the detector so if RO/DI water penetrates the area, the salt may dissolve and activate the detector. I should probably just try this but am guessing somebody else must have thought of doing this.....so just thought I would ask.
(I wonder if the salt alone would trigger the device; and, might it eventually corrode the pins)?
Any thoughts?

You're smart enough to invest in a leak detector to mitigate against a catastrophic situation. A leak detector must do it's job whenever there's water on the floor, no compromises. If the manufacturer had confidence in the product's ability to work with regular water by putting salt underneath the contacts, they would have no problem adding this info to the instruction manual and making it a product feature.

It’s all about conductivity. RODI water is a poor conductor. You can get a sponge shut off valve to use around non conductive items.

This is basically a dry sponge and expands when wet. It applies leverage to the lever and closes the valve.

OP, salt crystals by themselves are conductive too. So for your idea to work the crystals would need to not be under the prongs of the detector. Also baking soda is conductive when wet.

If you are real creative, take the above item, put a microswitch on it. When the microswitch either closes or opens it sets an alarm condition to the Profilux.

I am sort of surprised it does not work with RoDi water. I know the resistance of RoDi is very high but other leak devices do detect it. We have a Nescafe Latte machine in our office and one time I filled the 5 gallon tank with RoDi water just to see if it made the Latte taste better and yes it did, but the machine could no longer register when the internal water heating tank was empty. luckily it had a fail safe or else it would have burned out the element.
