Leaking bulkhead?

I'm going to try to tighten it up a little more tonight after work. If that doesn't do it I will remove them and post a picture. I'm hoping they just need to be a little tighter than hand tight.

Were you able to get it to stop leaking?

Good idea to clean the glass around the hole with alcohol and would hurt if you used it on the gasket either.

Anytime I set up a new aquarium I've always used a very thin coat of vaseline on the rubber gasket and the threads and have never, ever had to deal with a leak. A hobbyist at a LFS told me about this years ago.

I have heard about this also working.

I used a little DAP aquarium safe silicone sealant on mine and it worked fine.

I'm not sure if I should just try to tighten them up a little more or take them off and start over.

Let me clarify that I used the DAP on the threads when I screwed it together. That stopped my leaks.

You definitely don’t want to add silicone between the seal and glass/acrylic tank lol

My bulkheads came out the overflow which was on plastic or pvc...I didnt realize this EXT was on the glass.

I recommend reaching out to IM and asking what they suggest since it is new. I'm sure they can shed some light on this leaking issue.

It looks like I fixed it. Just need to put a little more muscle into it. Thanks everyone for all your help. Now it's time to get everything running and stock this thing.

We had bulkhead leaks. It was a used tank, and the plumbing looked as though it had not completely lost all potential. We reassembled that setup multiple times--which was a great logic exercise!
Our solution turned out to be, replacing leaking units with parts from Bulk Reef Supply. I cannot praise that company enough!

Good idea.

If I was to buy a used tank, I would 100% change out the bulkheads and plumbing even just for piece of mind.
