question for you UV owners even better if your a pentair UV owner.

when doing the leak test I cant seem to get the bulk heads to stop leaking. I posted about it on #askbrs but the mods denied my post...what the heck BRS

so looking through the manual again in the replacement parts they show 2 O rigs ( really 1 O ring and 1 gasket ) for the bulk head my unit only can with 1- O ring and no gasket? in the manual it does not say anything about the bulk head assembly other than thread it together and hand tighten only....

guess that is why I am getting a leaks.

thoughts? other than contacting pentair?

this UV has been a real PITA. I have had my take for 6 months now working on the plumbing and starting to get it going...grrrrr

Here is a diagram from the replacement parts list.

As you can see it shows to olding / gaskets for the union assembly.

Mine doesn’t have a gaskets just O rings. Actually I bought the unit used. 25 watt. Plumbed it and it leaked from the bulk heads. Came to find out there was no o rings. Installed some and so far no leaks. However I think I’m just gonna order replacement bulk heads from marine and reef. They also sell the gasket/ O ring kits.

Hold on... I bought two brand new Pentair 40 watt units. One is hooked up running fine, the other is in the garage waiting to be installed. I will go take a look and see what’s in the bag in terms of the rings and gaskets and let you know...

Ok. Isn’t R2R great? Lol!

For the top unit you need an O-ring (shown seated in place) and a gasket. It sounds like the guy you bought yours from lost the O-ring, and is trying to get by with two gaskets. I bet that is your problem. Best wishes.

Orings are cheap at a hardware store. Just bring the piece in to fit. Make sure the ring is raised up a little over the plastic for fit and seal.
It's also a good idea to put something like dow dc111 on the orings. Just to make them shine, don't plaster them. It will help them seal.
