My tank has been setup for over a year. I have a 700gph glassholes overflow, which has a 1.25” bulkhead (I believe), exiting the back of the tank is a 90 degree threaded elbow draining to the sump. I’ve always had minor salt creep near the bulkhead, not entirely sure if it’s from the bulkhead or the 90 threaded fitting. The past few days it’s developed a small drip. I can see a gasket on the outside of the tank, I can’t remember if there’s one inside as well, I’d have to take it off to see I think. What can I do to troubleshoot the bulkhead and fitting and figure out why it’s leaking? Obvious answers are to dissemble and reassemble, possibly add plumbers tape to the threaded 90. Anything else? I find it odd that nothings changed and it now has a drip.

Maybe the salt creep pushed the gasket out just a small bit? I made the mistake of not plumbers taping a threaded piece in my sump and it has a small drip. But it’s in my sump so I’m not concerned.

Yeah maybe. I can’t remember if I taped it or not when I installed it. I also vaguely recall reading to not tape the pvc fittings, but my memory is terrible so I can’t be sure.

I just had to fix some leaky plumbing on one of my tanks. It always had a very small drip, but recently started leaking even more. Turns out the bulkhead nut had somehow loosened over the 2 years I had the tank running, and developed a much larger leak. I simply tightened the bulkhead nut and no more leak.
