Hello! I have a hose barb threaded into a 3/4” pvc fitting, and no matter how many times I’ve taken it apart, used Teflon tape, etc, it keeps leaking! I’ve managed to get it down to what seems like a drop every 20-30 minutes, but that’s still leaking, lol. I’m at a loss as to what to do, as I don’t deal with threaded stuff too much, and usually cement everything together with slips.
Ironically, whenever I tried the slip stuff on this aquarium it leaked in the same spot (it’s cursed!) but that has been cut away and replaced with the hose barbs now.

i need advice on how to remedy my nightmare. I’ve read to use a specific sealant but don’t want to spend $30 to use it on one thread (especially if it dries up)
Thank you!

Use this with no tape. Hand tighten and then a quarter turn with channel locks pliers your done

1 drop per every 20-30 minutes would tempt me to stick a towel under it and see whether salt creep ‘magically’ plugs it within a week or two. ;)

Honestly over night it has more or less stopped leaking. when I woke up I stuck the edge of a paper towel in the little gap and very little water was in it. Just keeping this thread for if it starts again and for the future.
Salt creep is magical, just makes me slightly uncomfortable relying on that with my 3500 gph return pump on the other end lol.
