Is this little guy much of a threat to fin nip flashers, pintail fairy wrasse in a 56G?

Liveaquaria says they are peaceful,, bluezoo says semi-agresssive.

I have read that most tobies are fin nippers, I never put a toby with my mixed reef personally but when I had him in my 30 gal he nipped at the tips of sps. However no personal experience with it with other fish, can only say what I have read

I wouldn't be overly worried with a leopard. I've kept other species that are bolder and more outgoing and not noticed any problems with tankmates. As leopards are deeper water and hang around the rockwork, in the shadows, I doubt they would bother with the flashers. The only problem I could forsee would be with more sedentary fish like gobies but it wouldn't stop me adding a puffer. My leopard lives on its own waiting for a possible upgrade and if I do I will mix it with other fish.

Agreed. Leopard tobies are really well behaved compared to other Canthigaster species. They may nip slow or stationary fishes, but wrasses are rarely slow or stationary.

Thanks for the replies. So are leopards more secretive, less bold than Valentini's?

Would a Valentini be more of a fin nipping risk, if anyone knows?

I agree they aren't secretive but not as bold as valentini. My leopard is more in and out of the rockwork, staying lower down where the light isn't as bright (but still out a lot of the time), whereas valentini are usual out and about in the open more. Leopards stay slightly smaller.

Final question if you know....is the Valentini or Leopard the same risk at going after large cleaner shrimp or is one less likely to do that than the other?
