So I got some new zoas, and previously I have never dipped or quarantined any coral. And now I know that no matter what and who I get them from they should be at the least dipped. When I got the zoas, they smelled sort of funny but never thought anything of it and just thought that it was from the stress of shipping. Well couple of days later, the frag I bought, nearly all of the polyps melted away with a brown fungus. Then, the zoanthids I had next to them started closing up and today, I my candy apple reds, some freebie no namer and PPE, melting away with the same brown fungus. And some started imploding or something where the polyps seem to explode and shrink. Most the other zoas/palys are doing fine, but a very good lesson learned the hard way i guess.

yeah thats a tough one.
i would take out the infected ones that arent completely melted and dip them in peroxide and iodine. and then put them in low light with good flow.

I know it must be hard, so far I have not had this happen to me but the more I read I have become picky from whom I buy and what does the tank look like also I have started to dip them in furan and fresh water.

personally i wouldnt use the furan and freshwater unless you get zoapox. as far as dipping them, when you get them from someone i use iodine and fw exit. i go thru the colony with tweezers polyp by polyp too, to make sure there are no spiders that got missed or unwanted snails.

Neg, Furan2 is not a bad dip to do for fun, its a bacteria killer therefore i there was a tinge of the pox it will kick its butt to the curb.
I would personally dip in SWand not FW so the corals are happier. be sure to swish around with your finger or tool of some sort.

Yea, I had the same thing happen to me recently where I had some zoos wildcaught I think andthey came in with the pox I believe. I dipped everything around it!

Are you dosing VC? I know its a bit, but I would Furan dip, Iodine dip and follow up with some agent orange.

Also IMO IMO. I take a frag of the healthiest pollyp and seperate it from the colony, Just in case.....

LMK if you need any furan as I am going to be in logan square tomorrow!
