Least favorite tank chore

I don't find anything much off a chore at this time. Maybe that's because it's a smaller tank? I lease like doing the water changes. I need to start mixing up larger batches so I can do it less often. :)

I rarely do water changes. I think I usually do them these days when I start a new tank. I like grabbing some of my main DT’s water and adding it to the new tank for instant nutrients in the newer tank. Maybe since I do them so infrequently I don’t really mind them but I wasn’t super fond of them when I was doing them weekly.

I don’t see a tank thread… what size tank do you have? What kind of livestock are you keeping? Would love to see pics!

very true, the only thing that is kinda just annoying is water changes because i have a nano and even then its not too bad

This is an easy one

Cleaning up after my wife!!

She likes to frag corals and is super into zoas, so when she frags stuff, there’s a mess. Plugs all over, pieces of rock, glue… you name it, she uses it and leaves it out.

But I deal with it because every so often she says , “I was thinking we need some new corals, let’s get some this weekend”

I love that you both share the hobby!

I hate gluing coral. I find it super frustrating, especially when it doesn't hold and your old Forest Fire Digi colony falls directly into your Euphyllia colony :(

Not a chore but the absolute worst part of owning an aquarium is tearing them down. Takes way longer than anyone ever plans for. Then you get to deal with the wonderful fart potpourri emitted by the bacteria deep in the rocks and sand...

Yesssss!!!!!! I have spent so much time trying to figure out how to do this without spending hours… still fail.

+1 on the tearing tanks down. No good way to do it.

water changes are such a pain, more specifically the preparation to do a water change. Mixing, heating and preparing the new water is so annoying. All the pumps and heaters I have to take out and buckets it becomes such a chore. Once the water is ready its easy as can be. I gotta build a mixing station......

I don’t mind water changes, pump cleaning, water testing, or many of the tedious jobs
However I really dislike cleaning my glass, it’s kept me from adding more tanks to my collection.

Scraping the back glass. I don’t want to do it anymore. I keep saying I won’t, but I end up doing it.

But I think it’s going to be different this time. It’s not worth it. It’s very difficult in a large tank.

I can’t get to it in mine… even if I wanted to. Even the bottom of the front glass is challenging. Not doing a 30 inch tall tank again.

I don’t like all the gross stuff like cleaning skimmer and skimmate. Changing filter floss. Etc. But I look forward to cleaning the glass, it is like therapy to me. My PBT follows my magnet scraper and fakes attacking it, very funny. When I’m done, it makes the tank look all shiny and new when that glass is crystal clear. So satisfying. I purposely let the glass get dirty for a week or 2 before I clean it.

I also like water changes after setting up a mixing station. Used to hate it because had to do it manually. LOL. All that clean fresh water.
