Leather Coral Anchoring in sand.

Hello All!

I got a leather coral about 2 weeks ago and put it in the sand for acclimation to light. Its doing well and im considering just leaving it in the sand. However I have the base of the coral buried a but in the sand to keep it from falling over in the flow.

Is this ok to leave long term for a coral normally attached to rocks?

Any input would be appreciated!

It will probably be ok there, you may have an issue whenever it gets big. If you wanted some peace of mind you could get a small piece of rock, glue the leather to it, and bury the rock in the sand.

Thanks! Its already largely engulfed the plug it was on. I will see if i can find something a bit bigger to tac it to.

IMO attaching it somewhere among the rocks would be a better option. Sand is not very stable and not only will the currents cause it to move, but snails, crabs etc can do this as well. You definitely don't want to be fiddling with the coral on a regular basis. Find a good spot, secure it with some super glue gel or epoxy and leave it alone. GL.
