Leather coral covered in algae

Gotcha, thank you I’ll keep an eye out!

Some people call them a wedge sea hare. They are the "ugly" ones. And they are the ONLY ones that will eat evasive algae. All the others I have tried are very algae specific on certain macro algae's.

I saw it on live aquaria but I noticed it said expert only, I don’t have a lot of shaded regions in my tank. How tough are they to actually care for?

You don't need shade. The only tough thing about them is they are intolerant of any ammonia and high nitrates (like over 50 high) and they need to be drip acclimated because their bodies are basically liquid and a big difference in salinity can wreak havoc on them.

They will eat ALL you algae and they can stave to death unless you feed them Nori every other day. They are voracious eaters.
