I have had this leather for 2 years. It has grown fast from a mini frag to a 6" in diameter thru the years. every once in a while it retracts to remove the algae build up and opens a couple days after. I am worried, It's been past a week and it's still not cleaning the algae from its's surface like it usually dose. Is there anyone who has seen this and is it normal?, Is there anything I can do to help this coral?. I ruled out water parameters, They are in spec, or the other large leather I have would do the same along with it.

Yea, softies are finicky. Someone peckin at it? May be its shedding, can you see a glaze of the surface of it? And, finally, mine do the same thing, he may close up for a week then come back open, sucks but thats just what they do. As long as your not seeing it start to dissolve away, he's fine.

I have a leather that when it sheds it might take several weeks. I quit worrying about it, unless it looks like it is melting chances are it is ok

Mine is at that longer than usual spell. I'm waiting and waiting. I've had it for over 1 year and it always retracts and sheds and IMHO it looks bigger everytime. My green finger coral does the same. Keep us posted thanks.

Mine just did it for the first time n i almost pulled it out it looked sooooo bad..... Even the trunk looked bad.. Was like that for almost 3 weeks.... But it's now starting to look better.. Just leave it n see walhat it does

It took some time

It came back after almost 6 weeks. it was looking grimm for a while but it's full bloom and bigger than b4. Thanks everyone for the great advice....
