Looks to be shedding. My toadstool goes through that phase every once in a while then pops back better than ever. Increased flow will help assist in this shedding. If needed, can gently rub the shedding layer off to help out.

I have seen shedding before but never these dark spots haven't pulled it out yet going on a flatworm killing spree tomorrow so it will be dipped in coralrx anyway so I'll get a good look at it them and post back

So the black spots never went away and now the tissue is dead in those spots

The tank has not been changed or anything added to it but a diamond goby weeks ago

All Params are stable and have been for a while. mag is down slightly but it's been that way for half a year or more

Any ideas I just finished coralrx dipping it anything else I should do?

Have you tried dipping it in iodine?

I would personally cut off the infected part then dip the rest in iodine solution

How did it get infected its not near any other coral but a neon green toadstool nothing has fallen on it it just decided to start this brown jelly stuff i don't have iodine but did dip it in coralrx and revive the next day still seems to be getting worse :-( it's odd how it just happened for no reason

I would also cut the bad off so it doesn't spread been the only way I can keep them alive when they do that

Agreed cut off dead tissue, dip in an iodine dilution, moderately higher flow. Get some iodine at the local pharmacy. Please see link below for details on dipping.

Thread moved to Soft Corals, as this is a Sarcophyton/Octocoral not a corallimorph.

Sorry for the misplacement I don't think there is much helping it now it's almost 75+ % of the cap think I could just cut the whole cap off and leave the stem and it regrow?

No biggie on placement. :D

If you cut it back to healthy tissue and dip it in iodine I would think it would come around.

Worth a shot not gonna hurt anything any ideas what caused it have had it since it was dime sized

One thing I find with leathers are they like more flow than most people think. I use to have leathers do this and it was either from not enough flow or from before I had a ato and topped off manually (my fault and I think it was from too much fresh at one time)
