My leather tree coral came lose from a rock and I sat him on the sand bed. Didn’t give enough space between him he torch and this happened. Should I be worried. I gave him plenty of space now. Coralrx dip? Iodine? Or just let him heal on his own. He is still flowing just damaged on that particular spot

My torch stings some of my corals every now and then, they tend to be fine but shrivel up for a little while!

The torch is probably just *****. It’ll be fine. Give it the night to rest and get over it aha

Leather corals don’t sting other corals but release allelopathy(chemical warfare) against other corals in the tank. Your Torch coral is stressed out and care needs to be given to your Torch due to its long sweeper tentacles it possesses to sting neighboring corals.

Hello and thanks for the comment. Can these chemicals, if released hurt other corals? My torches have yet to send out sweepers. My hammer on the other hand are going bezerk.

Torch, Frogspawn and Hammer corals shouldn’t sting each other. However, with 3”-4” potent sweeper tentacles, care must be taken to arrange neighboring corals out of reach currently and as each coral grows and impedes on one another.
Many soft corals such as Sinularia, Sarcophyton, Xenia and Anthelia housed in large numbers together with LPS or SPS often times effect the health of the Stony corals. Optimum filtration and use of carbon or similar will aid in removing some of the toxins from the soft corals.
