I have a larger Tyree green leather that has flourished in my tank for years, growing from a 1" frag, to what is now 8"-10" tall and wide. Last week, I had to move it lower in the tank, so while I had it in my hands, I chose to cut a paly off of the same rock that was being overly shaded.
It has been several days now (6-8) and with the exception of a few polyps, it has refused to open since. It is starting to show a crusty sort of look as well. A few polyps will extend, but not more that a couple of patches the size of a dime. The leather is still the same size and shape, but will simply not extend. Now I am beginning to worry some. I have not had one stay closed for so long. How concerned should I be?

pH is 8.0, PO4 is 0, NO3 is < 1, temp is 79. Salinity is 35.

By the way, the one SPS I have in there (a setosa) is still flourishing, so I doubt water quality is the issue. I will say that I began dosing with NOPOX about 6 weeks ago, but other than that, everything is the same as it has been for years.

Not sure, but my toadstool (bit different species) closed for a month after I moved it. Give it some time. As long as it is not black or disintegrating, should be okay.

Those things will pout for the slightest reason. Seems like the bigger they are the more they object to being moved. I wouldn't worry about it.
