Yesterday I added the following to my recently cycled 90G,

2 Cleaner Shrimp
2 Peppermint
5 red legs
5 turbo snails

This morning I found one of my cleaners dead. Bummer . My nitrates are still at >40ppm post cycle, so I'm planning a large water change today .

Should I remove the Cleaner or leave him for food for the CUC?

I would remove if it is a brand new tank.
You may not have the bacteria and filtration to deal with the whole shrimp without risking spiking ammonia. This would put at risk your new critters.

Are you sure the shrimp was dead, or could it have been the exoskeleton? Shrimp tend to molt upon a tank move, and sometimes the molts look like the entire shrimp. We have mourned the loss of several shrimp and crabs, only to find them alive and well a few days later lol

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll probably pull him considering the tank has only completed cycle within the last week .

I'm pretty sure he didn't molt .Looks like the whole shrimpy there .

FYI I did drip acclimate them for about 1.5 hours in bag in my sump to equalize temp as well before adding .
