I am currently looking into replacing the lights in my Coralife Biocube 29 Gallon. I am looking at 3 different light sets that are made to fit in the hood for my tank. Yes I want to keep the hood on the tank. The first retrofit kit I am looking at is from stevesleds Biocube 29 Gallon LED retrofit kit. The other 2 kits I am looking at is from rapidleds. This is the first one Coralife Biocube 29 Dimmable Retrofit Kit - Rapid LED and the second one is Coralife Biocube 29 Aurora Puck Dimmable Retrofit Kit - Rapid LED. I plan on growing lps and sps coral in my tank but I want something that will really make the colors pop. My understanding is a full spectrum light will do that which is why I am thinking about the aurora puc kit. I do not have much experience with this right now so hoping someone on this site can share some insight. What is your opinion of full spectrum lighting or preference in led light color combinations. Not really looking for major growth since my tank is small just want everything to be healthy and colorful. Or does anyone have other lighting suggestions that I can use in the hood that may be better than the above. Thanks for responding.

I have just taken delivery of the rapid led rsm130 full spectrum dimmable retrofit with the storm dimmer. So far my experience with vince and the crew at rapid has been outstanding. They have responded quilt to my queries and the kit is A. If you are looking for a DIY kit I can't fault rapid.

Go with the Coralife unit, its made basically for that system, no fuss, no muss there. Also, go with the full spectrum set up, the initial set up with half blue half white, will look horrible, just way to much white in there, even dialed down. The other colors will give the coral a better look than just using the 2 colors.

Reefing madness can you be more specific. There are 2 coralife versions for my biocube. The first one comes with Full Spectrum: 1 Red, 1 Green, 4 UV, 8 Cool White, 10 Royal Blue as an option with 2 drivers. the second one the aurora puck comes with 4 drivers and full spectrum Channel 1 - 4 royal blue + 3 blue Channel 2 - 2 green + 1 blue + 2 red + 1 red-orange Channel 3 - 4 cool white Channel 4 - 4 Violet UV. Looks like the aurora puck is about $100 more but gives more control with the 4 drivers. What do you think is better? Thanks for replying.

How do you like that Storm controller? Did you get the x version?

Ah, my bad. The first set of lighting options. Its just the way yout tank looks with that lighting.
Also, I don't care much for storm features, I know we try to make it as natural as possible, but on my island, we never have storms.:xd:

I'm gonna be selling a maxspect nano unit if that Intrest's you? 150 + shipping. Got it for my refugium on ebay and I'm not gonna use it.

6 channels each with 256 levels of dimming...Latitude and Longitude along with Moonlight and several other settings....

I never program storms over my tank but like the to the point control features...
