21ledusa.com has a flood style bulb using Cree led's with internal fan for $65 per bulb. Seems intriguing as they would allow usage of a fixture built purchased or designed. Does anyone know of or have any experience with this type of product? These bulbs have internal fans and use Cree LED components. Company gears them towards Coral keeping.

Can you provide a link to the bulb in qiestion?

The question is what “full spectrum” they are referencing here and what kind of par does it produce? Without some technical data associated with this light, it’s a guessing game.

They are stating 120 PAR at 24". More details here:

I have been doing lots of research on the build and what to do. I am to the lights now and I have not researched specific corals yet. Just in general. There are lots of choices and lots of opinions. I will more than likely end up choosing corals based on how my tank ends up. My flow will be mid to high as dictated by some of the fish I will house. I was hoping to get some basic lighting to start for the fish and as I grew get better lighting. Corals will be inevitable with me. Was thinking possibly fish only but the beauty or the corals is too much to resist. My Goals are good lighting and also needs to have a particular aesthetic. I can achieve the aesthetic by making a floating fixture to house light fixtures or purchase something like a pool table fixture and put bulbs in it as I have asked opinion on here.

Thanks for the info on them. They look okay on par and spectrum, but the light spread maybe limiting as they are more of a spotlight in design. So light spread and how much the par drops off around the corners of the light would be questionable. This depends on the size of the tank and what corals you intend to keep. Then there’s the question of a fixture to put them in and how to time them. A household timer would work fine. Hanging them is another question as well. Using their mount would work fine if you couldn’t hang them.
