My LED's will be in friday, i will not be hanging from the ceiling, anyone who has hung or mounted these in a canopy could ya post some pics?

I just drilled holes in the top of the canopy and ran the hanger wires through the holes and used the 'D' clips on the top. It isn't elegant, but it works.

The light fixture comes with four eyelets for attaching the wire hanging kit. I used those eyelets as bolt holes to bolt the fixture to aluminum angle I picked up at HD. This was then bolted to the roof of the canopy. In the picture you can see one of the brass-colored eyelets bolted to the angle, and the nut on the opposing face holding the angle to the top of the canopy.

redfishbluefish, Do you have a full canopy shot? I like your idea and may have to borrow your design!

Here’s a shot of the opened canopy. By the way, two Apollo fixtures, with two IceCap four foot moonlights. The moonlights were mounted on pieces of dowel to put them at the same level as the light fixtures.

Are you venting heat out of the top of the canopy?

If you look at my build thread on mine, I have two 120mm computer fans, one in each end both blowing in with equal sized exit hole in the roof of the canopy over the fixtures so heat escapes but light does not. The added advantage is you get cooling by natural convection even when the fans are not running with this arrangement.

Yes, the canopy is open on the top. The lights are actually mounted on fir strips. Here is a picture looking down from the top.

Wow! You've resurrected an old post....I've now changed to L brackets (same fir strip cut and made into an L bracket for strength) and added a third fixture. On top of that, the fixtures are now SBReef Light fixtures. Here are the L-brackets still with the Apollos.

Anyway, I'm 13 inches above the waterline to the face of the fixtures.

Mine are hung using eye bolts in the top of the canopy and aluminum rod. Changed the hanging kit to longer chain. Allows me flexibility to raise or lower them.
