So, we finally pulled the trigger, ordering an EVO150 and the light rail that Reefkoi builds, to hand the Evo with. This will be going over a 40 breeder that's currently being lit with a Hamilton 250W MH Pendant with a Hamilton 250W 14K SE bulb. The Pendant is currently about 10" above the water surface. This tank houses SPS, LPS and Zoanthids.

So, now to my question and advice needed...

When I get the EVO, how high should I set it, above the water? The Evo is dimmable, so I have the ability to dim both white and blue, separately. I just don't want to fry my corals!

Thats part of the beauty of the dimming isn't it? You can hang it at what height you like and start off with the fixture at 20% or some other low number and then slowly ramp both the blues and the whites over time so you don't fry your corals and then also it will acclimate them and you won't have to hang your fixture real high and then slowly lower it. you just slowly turn the knobs. And remember, the higher you hang it the more spread you'll have.

Just for a reference, I have 36 3w leds and my fixture is 9" off waterlevel. I run blues at 80% and whites at 35%, and have since the start

The Evo150 and light rail should arrive, any day now! I'm so excited to set it up!
