Ok I have never posted here I just read a lot and am in a big dilemma. I currently have 1 Orphek Atlantik V1 fixture over my 90 gal that I am currently making 90% sps. It will eventually probably be 100% sps. Anyways I need another fixture and can't seem to get another V1. I went and saw the V2's today hung above a frag tank next to the V1's and they are horrible. So do I wait to find a V1 fixture or move on to something else. I have looked at radion pros so far but that's about it. Help needed and I wouldn't mind to see some pics of other lights. Thank you

I wouldn't rule out the AI fixtures. The AI hydra seems to be an excellent affordable new light.

I'm not really against any of them as long as I can see evidence that they work great

If you are buying new lights look at the ati hybrid. I have a radion pro on my 60 cube and the sps grow and look good but adding the t5 really make the colors pop.

I think that it has been proven that most all Reef LED lights are effective now, just choosing what options or sizes you'd like and what budget you have to work with. ie; controllable yes/no, color spectrum, viewible or hidden fixture (pay for pretty) optics options for deep or shallow tanks etc...
Maybe find a buyer for your fixture than buy another larger or a pair of matching ones of your choice. Orphek, AI, Reef Radiance, Reef LED and Eco Tech all have plus and minuses to consider.

Cheers, Todd

I would love another orphek V1 fixture just can't seem to find one.

Therefore if I can't find one I'm in the market for all new and I want the best if the best

Does anyone know someone with the pacific sun triton r2 fixture? Thoughts

So going back to some of my earlier questions do you want a single fixture or two to go over your 48" long tank ? Do you want/need for this light to have its own sophisticated controller or be able to be programmed with an Apex, Reefkeeper or similar ? Do you want a full spectrum fixture or is just a Blue/White (heavy on the blue) to your liking ? Is this fixture going to be fully viewed and need to have a Wow Factor as well ?

Food for thought and info needed to better help you.

Cheers, Todd

I want full spectrum preferably 2 fixtures because I don't know of any that will cover an entire 90 gal with one and have enough par/pur on the outside edges if my tank to do anything and I need them to have a controller. I don't really care to much about looks of the light as long as my tank looks good. With the atlantik yes it lights up the whole tank wonderfully but the outside edges doesn't have enough par to do anything with so I'm basically stuck with the middle 30 inches or so.

Saltfishguy can I see pics? Do you get good growth and color? Have you tested them with a par meter?

Coop,

I should have explained. I take care of someone's tank that has 3 of them over his tank. He has a custom 252 gallon tank. We switched his tank from halides to the tritons about 6 months ago now I believe. Color is good, has a lot of channels so you can adjust the color to your liking. I have not tested with a par meter, however these fixtures are mounted about 10 inches above the water and the tank is 30 inches high. I have corals growing in the sand bed with no issues. These fixtures are very powerful. I just ordered the pacific sun hyperions for my personal 90 gallon.

So far it's either the tritons or radion pros. The triton look good for what I can find about them but that is what's so tough. It seems that there isn't much R&D on them. Or at least what I can find. For me it's the par tests that sells.

Have you looked at the Kessil A360W-E's? I had the Vega colors on my 175. On my new 75g I'm trying the Kessils. They're getting great reviews for being able to grow just about anything. From what I've read you only need two for a 90g tank. If you google "jpowell kessil" you'll see some postings that's he's done with some great info.

I had four AI Vegas over a 180 sps reef for 6 months. No growth. Some colonies browned. Ditched the vegas. Got an 8 bulb ATI t5 fixture. Tank looks indane. Hair polyp extension, others unbrowning. Tank looks like its filled with paint. Amazing. And 1/3 of the cost. Its worth the yearly bulb cost. Its pennies compared to how much we spend on everything else

That's funny I just seen this and today I spent hours emailing the owner of orphek and the U.S. Rep and for lack of better words said screw yourself and pulled the trigger on the ati 8 t5 powermodule. Orphek quit making the V1 and everyone who bought the V2's want their money back. I saw the v2 next to the v1 yesterday and they are junk. The owner said he doesn't know what to do so they are already working in a new fixture the V2.1 I guess. We'll see . Anyway I'm going back to t5.
