led kill algea?

Probaly not. Algae problems are caused by excess nutrients. What are your water parameters? Phosphtes, nitrates etc. can cause algae issues. Test your water and then maybe we can help.

No, but I bet once you hook them up you get a Diatom Bloom.
Get rid of your Phosphates and you get rid of your algea.

Is your tank set up as new as you are here to R2R? Seriously. If your tank set up is new, for the first 6 months or more you can have all kinds of algae issues. Keep on top of your testing for nitrates and phosphates and do water changes with good quality water. If you don't have one, a refugium can be a big help removing nitrates and phosphates as well.

And no, it's very unlikely new lights, leds or others, will help solve your algae issues. Time and good tank husbandry is the ticket.
