I'm seriously considering getting 2 of the 36" 2:1 white /blue fixtures to mount right on the front edge of my 180g tank and aim it at about a 45 degree angle back into the tank. I have a LR wall full of coral that goes up to the waterline at the back. I think these may be just the ticket to eliminating the shadow effect that most all marine leds have. I can set them at the front edge of the tank inside my canopy and mount them on a swing arm that will pivot up and out of the way when I need to work in the tank.

Anybody have any thoughts on that idea?

Ive seen a few set ups that have the LED bars set like that. Looks pretty darn good to me.

I just placed the order for one, mainly to supplement the actinic and hoping it won't wash out when my T5's are on. I reached out to the vendor regarding the possible switching of the lenses since my tank is not deep. He mentioned that several buyes have removed them without any issues and even swapped them with 90 degree lenses instead.

I'll update the thread once I have them over the tank.

Any pics skelator? Just wanted to see how the light looks like, preferably the actinic one.

Received the light yesterday and it's super bright.

Had to remove the 90 degree optics and the light spread was huge.

Will post pictures soon but overall, a very solid actinic supplement light and it covers my 4' tank without any issues. Just need to find a way to attach it to my ATI fixture.

So here are the pictures of the bar. I took a trip to Home Depot and the bar was attached successfully to the ATI fixture.

Overall I am super satisfied with the amount of light it puts out, perfect actinic supplement.

My two 36" fixtures arrived yesterday. I'll try setting them up on the front of the tank today. If it works, you'll see pictures. If it doesn't work, I'll just explain the problems and look for helpful solutions. I'm just trying to reduce the shadows under my rock ledges and coral plates that create these big, dark shadows.

Ron,

You won't be disappointed with the light spread if you remove the optics. It puts out a lot of light.

I got ones that don't have lenses and they are still a bit too focused for what I was hoping to do. BTW, these are the $45ish 3' fixtures with 21 sets of 4 leds (that's 84 leds over 34"). They are very slim and very bright, and appear to be well made. The fixtures are very nice, however, at just 1 foot the PAR was only 50 at best and that was just through the air. Now I wanted light not PAR so that isn't a concern for me. But the spread of the light just isn't wide enough for my needs.
