LED Light Confusion

I'm looking into maybe trying to get two Hydra 26s or xr30s for my incoming 90G tank. I'm just really confused and I figured you all can straighten me out. I don't have an Apex. I currently have 3 vipar spectra 165w I'm using 2 one is a spare. I just can't figure out a pretty way to mount them. they are ugly.
Do these lights need a controller?
can I just buy two used ones and be okay?
I keep seeing them pop up for like 225-250 each with a mount, but I don't know enough about them to pull the trigger.
What should I be looking at?

Mixed reef. Like to grow a little bit of everything some sps, softies, LPS dominated at the moment with a few montis a stylo and stag.

Xr30 gen 5’s don’t require a controller. For gen 3 and later, you can buy an upgrade kit so they also don’t need a controller ($20), or buy the reeflink controller.

We made a custom mount out of lampshades and chain, that looks just like a pendant light and hung from the ceiling. You could explore doing something similar.
