Hi all,
New to reefing here and I just got an LED light that has white and blue power cords. I have read a bunch on them run dimmed don't get above 50% etc. How ever is the white for day time only or should I mix in some of the blue? The light has separate power cords. Just a little confused. Thank you in advance for any and all help

You should mix your White and Blue light channels thru out the day. Getting a PAR or LUX meter to measure your light intensity is the best way to go to assure enough, or to much, light. There are many threads on the forum speaking about this;)
Good Luck!

Thank you all. There is so much information I am bit on overload which is why I started the thread. PAR meter is a bit out the budget at the moment.

The Lux meter is $15 or so. Check out that link. Chime in with questions too.

Sorry Salty I was thinking PAR meters which are very expensive on BRS's site. The link mentions smartphone app ones are they any good?
No. The apps are really not as easy to use an actual meter. You pretty much just have to turn the meter on. The phone you have to fiddle with and put it over a tank full of salt water.
This one is pretty good.
