I purchased an LED light when I first bought my tank and didn't look too much into it. I now want one that has controllable white/blue schedule where I can make a more natural day/night transition. I would also love if it had an option for just red lights to peak in on my nocturnal crew! Not looking to spend mega bucks on a light since it is FOWL but would like to upgrade from the one I have now. I also need one that will work with a hooded aquarium that has a mesh lid. The one I have now needs a glass lid per the manufacture and I am waiting on my lid by Reefin' Aint Ezy to be done so once the new lid with mesh goes on this one wont work. Thanks guys!

Fluval marine 3.0 would be great for FOWLR. It has Bluetooth control, is customizable and the app is easy to use. It is easy to find and cheaper than a lot of lighting options. It has legs and can be placed on an open top or tank with a lid. I used them before I started to get into coral more. If you think you will ever go the coral route, there are much better options.

This tank is a predator tank that is colder water than what will allow for corals. I bought another tank for fish and corals I will be starting soon so any light recommendations for corals are appreciated as well!!

If you want dimming control, you will need a suitable 0-10v controller/timer, or control it with 0-10v from the aquarium controller of your choice. Or, you can set the Blue/White levels independently with the front panel buttons and use a simple household timer, smart plug whatever to simply turn it On/Off per a schedule (Kasa?).

I really am liking the Nicrew Reef LED fixtures currently available. I have a 100-watt and two 150-watt units. They are fabulous lights that will produce 250-300 PAR at 24" if you want to turn them all the way up. They're not nearly as nice as my full-blown Reef Breeder reef lights over the big 215-gal, but for a budget LED that has basic controls and will grow most corals if needed...

Not sure what size tank you have but you can try Reef Breeders. May be more than you would like to spend.

Kind of pricy but I like the shimmer effect of the Red Sea ReefLEDs. No red light though.
I use RedSea Reef LED 50s over my FOWLRs. The shimmer is awesome. My boys are dancing! But seriously I really like the RedSea lights. They worked great on softies previously also. No red as mentioned but there is purple moonlight. Easy app to schedule. I use across multiple tanks.

tank size? Do you want the option for any corals in the future under the light? What is the budget?

Hi! I'm new to the forum. I'm interested in LED light for my aquarium. It's 40 liters tank.

The current bars have a great cloud and variable light setting that would be very pretty on a fowlr. Plus they are cheap :)

I would create a new post, talk about what you want to keep (if you know), what features you may want (if you know) and how you would like to mount it.

Look back to what i said before, still need to know all this info to help with a light purchase, without it we really cant help too much

Tank is 70 gallons and will be a FOWLR tank! I don’t have a set budget on lights but would like to stay on the inexpensive side since it won’t be used for coral growth. The one I have now works fine I just can’t program it and would like that option

ok, what dimensions? probably a fluval light would work very well for cheap especially if you dont plan on any corals

With no coral, your basic T-5 works but to deliver true colors, consider Ai lights like Prime or Hydra 26

I would go with one fluval marine or one current usa orbit (whichever is cheaper and you like better). In the future if you want to add some corals, add an orphek or3 blue plus or similar reefbrite to add par and use the fluval or current for your visual pleasure. just my opinion vette is good too, i personally am not a huge fan of ai primes but thats just me

love the hydra though the prime seems to be made a little lower quality with more reported errors like fan noise and led blowouts from the reports i see, but idk i use t5 and a blue led supplement

i have used leds in the past but switched back to t5 for sps, maybe the icon or ati straton in the future for me but thats a different discussion

This will be a cold water predator tank so we won’t be able to have corals and the species we are getting would be okay with ambient room lighting it’s more for me than anything. I just want something I don’t have to mess with and just comes on and turns off on it’s own
