I bought some black box leds for my tank. The shimmering is killing my eyes. May be I will adjust to it after sometime.
But anything works to reduce it? like HOME depot light diffusers?

Are you talking about the shimmer in the water? Or do you mean the light itself is blinding to look at?

Because people pay top dollar for said shimmer in tank, and pay big money for light shades because the light is hard to look at. Which is your issue?

Have any pictures?

Sometimes the height of the light can do this. How high are they?
The lenses also if to narrow can do this. Can they be swapped to a broader one?

your eyes will definitely adjust to that and you may even miss it, if you look at other tanks without it, once you are used to the sweet shimmer! Lots of people like that look but any new light always takes a bit to adjust too.

If the light was a little blinding to the eye, I know @Projects with Sam is making light shades for those ;)

Unfortunately black boxes are the worst for viewing IMO. Adding some LED strips or T5 will reduce.

OMG!!!! That's absolutely amazing, your fish are so beautiful!!! They all looks so happy too, I really do love that video!!!! I'm loving all your fish I wish I could do that!!!!!!

I just put 2 smatfarms G5's on a 55 gallon. Thy're about 25" from the sand, 9 or so from the surface. I think the shimmer is pretty good.

What do you have them set at? Maybe cut down some on the whites?

If its a smat farm, your stuck with the shimmer due to the style of lens. If its a black box like a viaspectara, mars aqua, etc... you have some options. Either pull the lenses or find some diffusing material.

As said above, @Projects with Sam is planning to make an shade for the smat farm but its not ready yet. That will solve light bleed out of water.

I would keep that light setting how it is because it shows off the fish perfectly! The colors are amazing, no aggression, I'd say it's perfect!
