So, being 8 months new to the hobby, my tank is slowly becoming stocked with some very nice pieces of chalice. I have been very careful with the lighting. I am running 2 Radions over my 75 gallon rimless. I have cut my white light to almost nothing, say 10-15% load. Mostly Running Blues, green and reds. And total power output is no higher than 35%. Because of the cost of some of these pieces, i am affraid of bleaching. Im looking for what others are running using LED's.

U are correct... That is most of my collection to date. But, i have noticed some, dont like the white light,, I think.. They fade color wise... So, i have cut the white back to vitually nothing, increased the blues... And alos lowered the intensity of the Radions.... Looking for some advice, or persoanl experience...

I have mine low and in the shade under low non-laminear flow and they seem to be happy.

I am running AI's and IME the whites are LPS/chalice killers. Most of my chalices are in my frag tank under T5's for that reason. I am not saying every chalice will react this way. My JF crazy fox is high up and gets blasted with LED lighting and it looks just insane.

Hey Darren.. would u suggest moving my chalices to my small frag tank , which is acan driven, with T5 lighting. Or see what happens over the next week or so. I just cut the white to 1--15% max, and increased the blues to 80-95%. Also the entire radion power level is 35% max, and thats just during the day time for about 4 hours....

Paul, I think as long as you keep the whites that low you should be fine, you may even be able to turn them higher over time if you want, just do it slowly. The reason I dont turn mine down lower is since I have so many SPS in my DT. I would just keep a close eye on the chalices for any signs of bleaching. If they start to bleach either move them under a ledge or to the frag tank. I think you should be fine though...

Thanks Darren.. Still got ur list. Will be in touch when the bank account builds back up..Lol

Got ya...Interesting thought... so the chalices u have, some ok in the LED side or u just leave them in the T5 half?

I have AI SOLS and I also have turned the white light way down. I have only one chalice that I had to move down further and I have a 30" deep tank. I also have SPS and am afraid of turning the whites any lower.

I judge witch side they go on by how they react to the light over a length of time some show discoloration or browning out I adjust accordingly. This is just a grow out tank though but honestly low light t5's I have found to be the best for overall health, but if you have the time and the eye you can pull off LED'S.

IMO 10K will bleach most chalices under LED and if not bleach, they are not going to look nearly as good as a 20K spectrum. 10K=lots or growth for SPS.

Darren.....Whats happening??? So, help this newbie out.. the 20K spectrum is the deep blue..Right?
