Hey all. I had a previous 125 gallon some years back that I shut down and regretted it ever since. My wife and I are moving into our new construction house. I will be finishing the basement within the next couple months and hopefully gather all equipment and have the tank up and running a few months afterwards. So to the question...

I always tend to lean towards LEDS just to keep the electric bill down and keep the wife happy. I am however considering LED/T5 hybrids. This tank will be a mixed reef (I love SPS but I definitely want a good micture of LPS and corals that actually sway with the water flow).

I always liked AI, had the AI Sols on my 125g. What do you guys think of the Hydra 26s or 52s? What do you guys prefer more 26 units or less 52 units? And how many of each? And any other suggestions for other brands I am open to as well?

Also, what about LED/T5 combos?

Thanks guys!

I think a combo of Hydra 52 and T5 would be excellent. I imagine somethibg like 4x of the hydras would be fairly good coverage for a 125.

Thanks for the reply, my old tank was the 125g the new setup will be 220g. I am assuming it would still be 4x Hydra 52s if I went LED only route?

Also any recommendations for a LED/T5 hybrid for a 6 foot tank would be awesome.

The ATI Powermodules are really nice if you want an all in one fixture. I run two 48” with 8x54w bulbs in each. Each fixture has three 75w leds.

They make a 60” version of this as well.

Keep an eye on the BRS open box deals, they have had some great prices on the powermodules.

Yeah that's what I been reading. Seems ATI is a popular choice. So freaking expensive though and they don't even come with the bulbs. But if it comes down to it, I will always choose the better option and wait a little longer to set up the tank then rush it.

Thanks! Going to do that now.
