Hi I'm currently running a 10g reef with a par38 36w full spec bulb over it and everything is doing great.

The bulb is good quality though (Cree or rapidled not sure) so I've never had to worry about it as I read a lot of good reviews before purchasing.

Now, I'm also running a 8g quarantine/frag tank with 16w of t5 bulbs which I'm hoping to switch to also led.

I found these cheap par30 bulbs on ebay which i want to try out.
I don't care about pricey lighting for my 8g because it's not my main tank.

But these bulbs describe similar to my par38 bulb which is working great.

Can anyone tell me if this bulb would be ok

and what's the difference between the expensive and the cheaper LEDs? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
Color is not really a problem as my main tank has more blues in, I just wondered if they would grow coral ok or would it all die lol

You can use that LED, its going to be a bit white, you shuold be looking into the bluer range, more 2:1 Blue. But it'll work.

This light looks good but kinda pricey for a 8 gallon I don't care much for.

If I was to buy that light, I'd put it on my 10g and move the par38 to the 8g

For now just looking for cheap and practical.
