Are there any "experts" on LED lighting that can answer some questions for me? I am looking into LED as a replacement for my power compacts and its very confusing. Thanks

Your link is broken, requires AOL.

Have you read the LED threads in the lighting forum? What specific questions do you have?

I have but maybe I need to read more, my main question is, how do I know what size LED fixture will give me enough light to grow lps and soft corals on or near the bottom of my 23 in deep tank that is 3 feet long and 12 in wide. I guess I am trying to find a fixture that is 1 unit and not 2 because of cost. I posted this link
http://mail.aol.com/36478-211/aol-6/...rium_light.pdf but I don't understand all the information so I don't know if the fixture will work on my set up.

Thanks
David

there are 84 2W leds with a ratio of 1:1 blue to white, personally i like a 2-3:1 ratio of blue to white so there is more color pop and has a blue tint. it all depends on how much it costs?

Unless they are dimmable I wouldn't want them personally. LEDs are bright and being able to dim them helps in acclimating your tank to that brightness

There are lots of options under $400 from known sellers.

Personally, I am going with one of these. The CREE version.

That kinda limits u to a white/blue fixture with pretty simple on/off switches and no programming ability. I have found that my Radions are a great fixture, however u do pay for a lot of the features that im not really using. Keeping mostly chalices, im running very little white light, more blues, and the intensity of the lights are at 40% power. Probably gunna have to look at Marineland, or like a Skyled fixture. Good luck

Def gotta be dimmable. Not sure the units the Poseidon is talking about will cover the 36" length of ur tank.. But at 200 bux, guess u could run 2 of them.

Well I have decided to order the new maxspect razor r420r 160watt 16000k led light fixture, for the money it seems like a great fixture and from what I have read it will be perfect for my 45g. Hoping to have it with in the next 2 weeks, they are do to ship to the stores on the 27th. I will everyone posted.
