Hey everybody,

Question for you guys. I have a Biocube29 with two Ecoxotic Pro Modules. One is the all blue and the other is the 12k white/blue combo. I wanted a more bluish look in the tank so I did the following:
Running the all blue module at full power and I put a dimmer onto the 12k white/blue combo one. I probably have it running about 30-40% power. I have achieved the look at want and the coral corals really pop.

The lighting schedule is as follows:
All blue from 11:30-8:30 with the blue/white combo stripping turning on at noon and running till about 6:30. I have softies, LPS, zoos, etc..in there right now. Anyone see any concern. Talked to a couple of LFS and they say all should be good, just slower growth. Thoughts and ideas are welcomed. Thanks.

Rob

I had 3 pros in my bc29. Two blue/white and a blue/magenta. I liked the color and thought it was fine, but I got my hands on a par meter and was disappointed. I was getting 50 on the sandbed and 200 a couple inches below the surface. Ok for softies but not so good for Sps. I had an rbta in the middle and it wasn't enough light for it. It got huge and looked like it was always reaching for more light.

Been happy with the color and growth so far but I really like a blue tank, somewhere between a 14k-20k look. Not sure if I am going to do SPS or not. If I do, they will be all the way at the top. If i can't, I will survive. Really like how all of the colors are popping right now with the white light cut back.

Will have to see what else I add. I really like acans and chalices so I think I am going to be ok. Just wanted people's opinions to make sure on right course.

You can easily add another pro later. I had a few acans on the sandbed and they almost immediately lost their color. All the red ones turned orange and faded. I was super bummed. It was my first experience with LEDs so I assumed it was the light, but once I put them in my 40b with a stronger light with more colors, the colored back up nicely. I had a chalice mid-depth in there also and took forever to grow. Not trying to discourage you, but that was my experience with those lights.
Stunner strips are just for accent lighting. They don't have enough par for growth. Good luck. Also my Palys on the sandbed got really long reaching for the light.

Were they the new pro modules or were they the older panorama modules? So far I haven't noticed anything changing colors. I as afraid to add another one that it would be too much light in that small of tank.

I bought them from Ecoxotic about a year and a half ago. New ones I believe. They are the pros. They used to recommend 3 for the bc29. Now i think they recommend 4. Would be cheaper to do DIY. I needed something quick when I bought them. Didn't have time to research or build something.
