I understand that it is common practice to hang light fixtures above the tank. However due to multiple reasons, I'm hoping that I can get some decent suggestions on a LED fixture that more or less just sits directs over the tank. Kind of like the fluval LED fixtures or the orbit marine pro. I would like it to be low profile.

The tank that this light will be used for is 125 gal (6 ft long). When it is setup it will be a FOWLR for awhile, but I certainly want to add corals and mushrooms later down the line. So I want the light to support my growing interest and needs.

Again, I am fully aware that there are very nice high quality lights available that can be suspended above the tank. This is not what I am looking for :) thanks to all!!!

Welcome to R2R.

If you want something that sits that low and can support coral growth too you're going to need to make your own fixture or use a lot of fixtures to cover the space. Most people hang their lights because the optics require it in order to get the light spread needed.

Another option is T5. You can mount them right on the tank.

Thank you for your reply. Yeah, I was thinking that I was most likely reaching for the stars. I've been looking and researching lights until my eyes started to cross lol.

I have a 90 gallon , with the marine pro setting right on the tanks and coral life four bulb T5 fixture also sitting on the tank , I have a mixed reef with softies , LPS and a few SPS all are growing and doing well , had to modify my canopy a little but works great.

Oceanrevive T247 has a bracket that stays 20cm over the tank. Not sure if it is still high for you. But would be a good option for your tank. More details can be found on OR website: http://oceanrevivellc.com/ and reviews from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/OceanRevive®...e-Aquarium/dp/B00YOYD3K2/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_i. Good luck!

Thank you everyone for the replies! I'll look into each of the suggestions. :)

SB Reef lights has a new bar fixture that could do very well.
