I'm looking for a led for my 30x30x30 cube. Budget is a concern. Shimmer, dawn and dusk is what I'm looking for. I cannot afford an arm and leg led so what's the best cheapest led route I can go...even Chinese products? Btw, I'm a complete noob in regards to lighting.

Apollo reef has some nice fixtures as well. I have 2 of there original solar blast dimmable and love them.

They also, somewhere on here, have a par ratings and it was very good. I grew a monti cap on the bottom of a 25" deep tank with them 4" off the water. And at 40% blue 20% white.

I have a new reefbreeders photon48, works very nice. on a 24" deep tank, I am operating them at about 55% power.

What's the difference with a $329 OR-IT2060 LED Aquarium Light vs a $450 Kessil A360w? It's only a $120 difference but what about performance wise? There's just too many options to choose from and a bit complicated. An $800 led fixture vs a $320 it2060...why such a big gap? I need to get my lights going so i get the zoas, lps, and anemone going as well but, again, led info is just a bit overwhelming..

I have no idea how the kessil performs but I hear it's a nice fixture but you're going to need an apex or something similar to add the control that you want whereas the it2060's have the controller built in, plus I think it might cover your dimensions a little bit better.

I just saw this thread on here where 3dpilot has a write up on Oceanrevive's Arctic lights vs the kessil although it isn't quite what your looking for but it does have info on his experience with the kessil versus one of oceanrevive's products.

You asked about the difference between the OR IT2040 and the Kessil unit. Well, I have little experience with the Kessil. but I had a $750 Eco Tech Radion led fixture over my 24g frag tank. I tried an OR D120 (made by EverGrow) and it worked just as well for growing my coral, but I gave up the sunrise and sunset control. I didn't care since this was just a frag tank. Oh, and I saved $600, can I say the Radion is kind of pricey! Then I tried the OR Arctic S026 and I like it even better than the D120. Better light spread, cooler running temp (like room temperature cool), less 'glare' at the light source and just look at it, it's a better looking fixture (slimmer and more modern looking).

If you want sunrise and sunset control (and I wouldn't be without it for my display tanks), look at the OR IT2060. I have 2 of the OR IT2080's over my 180g tank and an OR IT2040 over my 70g hexagon anemone tank. The IT series are well made, produce more than enough light to grow anything and cost less than most other fixtures. My OR IT series lights have been running 24/7 (because they have moonlights too) for 9 months and they haven't missed a beat once. They even hold their programming after a power failure. And being in SW Florida with all our thunderstorms, we know power failures! Even after a 10 hour outage everything came back on perfectly!

Here is OR's sponsor forum here on R2R: Ocean Revive LED
And here is their website: OCEANREVIVE LED

Here you can see the 2 OR IT2080's over my 180g tank.

I'm an accounting major and I simply don't have time digging into leds, sigh. Can I ask, is the IT2060 the same as reefbreeder's photon 24? If yes, will it be better to purchase from reefbreeders? If yes, do I choose 6o optics, 90 optics, or 120 optics for my 30x30x30 cube? If yes, will "one" photon 24 cover my 30x30? I cannot afford more than one. If no, sigh. I feel I should just get the it2060 or photon 24 if it is a it2060 under a new name but a part of me wants to make sure I get it right the first time.

Yes, but I've had great customer service from OceanRevive (what little I've needed). And the tech help has been good too.

Iffy question for me... 90's may work, 120 is just taking the 90's off, which is a 15 minute job and really easy.

In my opinion, yes.

It's a very well made light and I think you'll be very happy with it.

DIY is best IMO, LEDgroupbuy has solderless and their multichip led that would be easier to make, if you can't build one reefbreeders all the way.

If no one else throws in their .02 against the photon 24 then I'll have my order in later in the afternoon...thank you and others for the help.
