Hello

I'm going to setup another tank in a few months. It's going to be a Red Sea Reefer 250. SPS dominant. The dimensions will be 36"l x 20"w x 21"h. I'm planning the lighting.

On my 105g I had Hydra 1st gen. I hated those lights and switched to MH/T5.
On my new build I was thinking about pure T5s; however, I'm considering LEDs. I do like the controllability and low heat from the LEDs. I assume the technology has improved. Any recommendations? I prefer the recommendations come from Those keeping SPS reefs.

Thanks in Advance!

GOT THE SAME TANK I USE ATI T5 6BULBS PLUS MOON LEDS. CORAL PLUS BULB IS GREAT AND THE PURPLE PLUS, ACTINIC IS A MUST HAVE.
FAR AS LEDS,I AM LIKE YOU I LIKE THE NEW KESSIL IT HAS A 4FOOT SPAN SO WE WILL ONLY NEED ONE BUT I AM WAITING TILL THEY HAVE
IT ALL WORKED OUT.

why did you hate the hydras?

I'm not SPS dominant, but I do have several in a mixed reef. I'm running 5 of the new AI Primes on a Reefer 450... so 60"L x 20"W x 22"H. There are mixed opinions on what the PAR levels actually are. At 13.5k spectrum, so 59% white and 100% blues, I'm getting 460 -500 PAR at 5" BWL. I have the fixtures 6" AWL. I'm seeing growth and great polyp extension from my SPS... Acroporas, Millepora and Montipora. I use to have Hydra 52's, but I could never get a spectrum that was pleasing to my eyes. The Primes use a cree blue instead of the cree royal blue found in the Hydra 52. Now I'm getting a spectrum that I love!... the corals seem happy too:D
