LED review help..

I wish I knew more about these things, but out of curiosity I tried looking up reviews and am surprised that I couldn't find a single review. Hopefully someone else will chime in here. :(

Ihave two of them. The lights are great. I have LPS and SPS under the lights. TheSPS have great polyp extension. I got an ORA Bird of Paradise from a local petstore the coral was kind of brown in color. It has now been in my tank for twomonths. The yellow color has come out a lot. Also the LPS look great. All thecorals look great under the blues. The light has three fans and the timers aregreat if the lights go out the timers do not have to be re set. The store herein Daytona is small they mainly deal in water RODI stuff but as late they havestarted to stock sumps, lights, protein skimmers, and some corals very limited though. There others stores in the area are stocking LEDS that are one watts with 60LEDs ecorays for 299.99 and no lenses. These lights have 60 degrees lenses. I do not have a par meter so I do not have thespecs.

Got an FTS to see what kind of color you are getting from the light? Do you have a controller on it as well?

I do not have a control on these lights. The timer is the control. The timer will control all three colors to come off and on and differents times. Here is a tank shoot with all the LEDS on(whites,blues,reds,UV(405nm),3000k). This was when I first got the lights about two months ago. I have not taken any new pictuers as of late. The corals were out of my 30 gal. The 55 gal tank was set up in Nov. with just 2 T5 no coral though.

I've been running LEDs for just about a year now and have had great growth and color using them.

The growth rate is great on sps and LPS. Zoes grow like weeds under LEDS they love the light. I did not have any browing of the corals when I put them under the LEDS. I did have some SPS get better color with the LEDS.

One great thing about them is no heat. I have one of those AC lazer tem gun the LED were running at 82F my HQI was running 450f I have chiller on that tank because in FL in the summer the tank would get about 88 to 89 degrees and that with AC on 76.

Be careful saying no heat with LEDs. There is heat, it is just mostly from the back of the LEDs. There is definitely much less heat transfer between the LEDs and the tank, but you have to be very careful to cool the LEDs.

Be careful saying no heat :) LEDs produce heat, they just produce it behind the LED and don't transfer it to the water like metal halides.

Yes, I know they make heat, however; its not the save as HQI. The LEDS have three .15 amps which pull a lot of the heat off the heat sink. The heat sink runs at about 82F.

I have 3 of these lights on my 125 looking good. Great growth on all my coral had them about 2 months now here is some pic of my tank when I first put them on my tank about a weak afterwords

Are the lights a complete kit, no assembly or other stuff to buy? What size are the lights on your tank? What is 18 way adjustable?

$479 for the one below
Only one cord due to the advanced built in 3 circuit timer/controller
- 1 circuit for white
- 1 circuit for blue
- 1 circuit for red,uv, and moon
1 timer, 8 function, 18 way adjustable.
Fixture is 16"x8"x3"

There is nothing to buy. The timer just allows you to control the lights 8 different on and off. You can also select mwf or t th sa just sat and sun or monday. The UV405 and the red 660 help with coral growth. the human eye cannot see the 405 nm.

Im wondering if one of these would cover a 40 breeder that Im looking at setting up here in the next couple of weeks. If anyone knows let me know that would be great. If it will I just might have to get it on order next week. This is a big change for me going from MH to LED's. Its kind of like jumping out of a plane for the first time. From watching everyone else you know that you will be safe. But your gut is still knotted up and you feel sick. But Im ready to take the leep into the unknown.
