Are there any 24" strips out there that are comparable to the reef brite xho's? I need one for a new tank that I setup but I really don't want to spend $200 on it if I don't have to

Yes. Is there a good place to buy all of the supplies to build my own?

Yes. Home Page I prefer the Rebel ES for royal blue supplementation as they have a shorter wavelength and have a better actinic response. The heatsinks they use are a strip heatsink too, with a fan that pushes through the square tubing and is very efficient at removing heat.

For the minuscule price difference between those knockoff chips and Luxeon Rebels, the performance difference is vast. You'd need two and a half of those fake Bridgelux chips at 700ma (2.5 watts each, so almost 7 watts worth) to match a single Rebel ES at 1000ma (3 watts). Doesn't seem like so much of a good deal now, does it?

And you don't need nor will you use all that power of the ones you listed my friend, you'd cook half of what you own. And yes, I would still go with the ones I've listed. =)
