So, I have a 36x48x27 peninsula tank currently being set up, and just installed a ATI Sunpower 8 bulb 48" fixture. Looks great, but 36" is pretty wide, and I would like to run an LED strip down either side.

I know people mount Reef brite lights to Sunpower canopies, but I am thinking I might prefer a fitting that would rest on the tank.

The T5 lighting is of course very diffused, and I'm thinking maybe LEDs that are widely spaced could provide a bit of shimmer down on the sand. Not married to that idea though.

Trying to not break the bank. :-) Reef brite XHO probably more than I want to spend. Note though that the tank is 27" deep, and the higher rockwork is under the T5s.

Thoughts?

You plan to have 2 or just 1 LED bars? If you have 2, then even the TechBlue RB is good enough, more than enough. The BuildMyLED is very good but they are out of SW business. Used BML would be what I do, but I don't cook the stuffed puppy like you so we might not think the same :)

Show us the pictures of your beautiful tank!!!!

The tank has rock and water but that's it so far!

The Sunpower runs down the middle, so the plan is to have an LED strip on either side.

That's not a puppy- you never saw Fatal Attraction?
