Not just another pointless catchy title but a serious dilemma................... I have a cluster of classic acros mostly ORA's. If it were 2007 man you couldn't get any better than this. Well, what I really mean is here you have a pack of long , and i mean long as in 5-10 year clubbers that have all grown well under halides for years that i have had quietly kept under LED now for some time and are thriving just as well as ever! Color and growth have never been better in fact! So if your looking for some well acclimated classics to to throw in your fancy LED lit reef, i have you covered!

375.00 shipped
  1. ORA frogskin
  2. ORA Red planet
  3. ORA Hawkins
  4. Tyree Blue matrix
  5. PC rainbow ok ok not quite circi 2007;)
  6. Dales purple unknown
  7. Palmers blue milli
  8. ORA Phils Granny
  9. ORA Rose milli
  10. ORA Cali Blue tort

X. call it a freebie. not the prettiest but the pack didn't seem complete without the old miami orchid. the colony has been abused and the frag looks only so so but again call it a necessary freebie:)

Nice color. Zeo system? What lighting and nutrient level do you upkeep?

I would love a full tank shot.

ha ha not even close. i am pretty much the opposite of zeo and actually run the systems not much different than i did in 07 when most of these acros were hot and fresh! lol I don't employ any of the "newer" nutrient control techniques at all. just very strict attention to alk and ro/di purity:)

These growing under the Radions? Really in debate for my new tank and if you are getting those colors with them I just might have decided :p

Actually these all came from my back up system which is lit exclusively with no frills reefbreeders fixtures. One 48" a 32" and two of the values!

By the way, I got the Tyree Blue Matrix and Frogskin from Adam a few months back and they are really that colorful. Great stuff Adam!

Umm... Ya. So all of R2R voted (don't look for proof, just trust me) and agree that there is no way you can end this discussion there. :D :D

I see you posted some details already. LED of choice: "no frills reefbreeders fixtures. One 48" a 32" and two of the values!"

How long have you been running them under the LEDs now?

Any lessons learned along the way like doing the typical "start the LEDs at 50% intensity" or did you go for broke or any other hindsight you might be able to share?

Would it be too much to ask what kind of PAR you're hitting them with?

Can you tell I've been considering it too? ;)

:D

ha ha fair enough. well i will just start by saying that i am 100% convinced that sps can thrive under leds. While i wouldn't say they the ReefBreeders is my "LED of Choice" I can say that they are performing beyond my own expectations at this point. I also run radions and Reef led lights fixtures! All of which are performing amazing. I just used the reef breeders on the backup system because they were a little cheaper but in the end no where near the build quality of the reefled lights fixture. for what its worth.

I have multiple sps tanks running leds that all started at different times. The longest is about a year now and everything in that tank started as small colonies or frags and grown well. I have never done any acclimating other than to keep the fixtures higher at first and lower them if i feel i need to. having said that, i haven't lowered any of them lol. most of the coral in this pack have been under led for a little under a year. All of the actual fragged growth happened under led. Meaning this pack is 100% led grown:)

I have said it before but if your sps are healthy and growing well then they will adapt pretty easily to different lighting as long as its sufficient. The key is just human observation. I am pretty in tune to what is going on in all my systems.

My old red apogee finally got some saltwater in it about six months ago so i have been without since then. I don't bother checking par anywhere but at the surface of the water, its my only real reference point. The par at the surface over that tank this pack came out of was about 600 last time i checked.

ultimately i have come to realize that if your sps are happy now they will be just as happy under leds.

hope that helps

I'm just as curious about the Alk!
7? 8? 9? 10?
Stability approach? Kalk? 2part? WC? Other?

8-9 tested daily without exception. i have used just about ever method out there but i moved to manually dosing two part on all my systems about 8 months ago after i believe i was having some issues with impure for lack of a better word reactor media.

tds 0.0 on comm 100 no exceptions. may be a tad anal but four long term success I want nothing in my tank but what i put in myself. that meant 0.0 tds is absolutely essential!

Adam,

Awesome pack man. I would love to buy it but im just not there yet. I have kept and lost a few of those back when I was running an OLD school VHO setup. I am a bit punch shy for sps now since losing a 180 full last fall. YOu are correct. SPS can definately thrive under LED.

anyways, Thank you for the specifics you posted on lights, alk and TDS. any vendor sharing their processes for the good of their purchasers in my book is a winner. now when I get ahold of some frag $.. you and I will have discussions. im currently waiting on some zoas to ship from someone else, and if they dont here REALLY FREAKING SOON ill be demanding a paypal refund. Id take 1/2 of this pack.

Heya,

I second pickupman66's post - Thanks for the follow up and information sharing. Interesting stuff.

One last follow up: what is your LED of choice these days? Of course options change nearly weekly... But you know, for today? :D

Thanks!

I think I'm 800 of the 950 views on this. Wish my tank was ready for this pack!
