I finally broke down and bought LED lighting for my tank. I gutted out the hood of my Biocube 29g. I left the 3 moonlight LED's and the fans that come with the tank. I ditched the compact and will never turn back!!!! My tank is so happy right now. My corals look better than ever, and I'm already seeing new growth in just a week of switching. I am now using the Current USA Orbit Marine LED system with ramp controller. It freakin' AWESOME!! Plenty of blue light to make my corals stand out and show all of their beautiful colors. I was worried about the ratio of white/blue. But i'm not anymore. I would suggest this light system to anyone for any size tank. The thunderstorm setting seems to be a big sell point on the system. It is cool, but what is cooler is the fact that on the standard settings my tank looks totally different now that those old useless compacts are gone!!! The par is perfect on the deepest corals in the tank. My Ricordea are about 15" deep and u can see every color on them clearly. I think i see a new mouth already in a week. I'm happy with my tank now so i'm going to keep the updates coming. I took a picture earlier but its blurry and does no justice. Watch for tank updates, thanks for reading!

I'll be setting up my biocube shortly. I got it used and it is the one with the 150W MH bulb. I want to convert it to LED. Looking forward to pictures "under the hood" so I can check out your install.

it wasn't really an install. I just took out what i didn't need. The LED strip fits perfectly under the hood w/o MODing it. I'll try to make a video and share the link to youtube.

oh and just so you know, the current usa orbit is $103 w/ free shipping right now on Dr. foster and smiths. I looked everywhere and that was the best price. was $165 on ebay.

I just pick up the same set up and currently have FOWLR as my tank is still new. I am looking at corals in the future and from what I am reading I don't know how they will do with this light.

The light looks amazing so far and I love all the options it gives you.

Do yo u have coral? If so how are they responding to the lighting?

Thanks for reading and looking forward to pictures!!!!

I have shrooms, ricordea, acropora, palys, zoas, xenia, pipe organ, and a brain coral. All of which are healthier than ever. The colors are bright with this light, and the par is good even at 3-4 inches off the bottom of the tank.

What is the average distance they are from the light?

When I start to get some they will he placed approximately 7 - 12 inches some may be as far away as 14.

I use the same light (only alittle bigger..The 48" one)and my first zoa frag has already put out 4 new heads in two weeks. I'm very impressed.

Sorry I ment what is the average vertical distance between the light and your coral?

How is your light working.

I went to clean mine the other day and found condensation in the inside of the glass. Is yours doing the same.

I'm going to get a new one now. Going to see if they will let me upgrade to the larger one one :)
