Hello,

I got a Finnex Ray 2 to put over my 29 gal BioCube and my leather coral bleached. My purple tip condy anemone seemed to be losing color. Is this too powerful a light or not enough light? How do you tell the difference? I moved the coral to my 75 gallon and my anemone to my 36 gallon, where they were intended. The BioCube is my quarantine tank.

I don't think i would call it too much just a sudden change.
Zooxanthellae algae does not like change.
With led lighting you have to make it slow over weeks.
Our eyes do not see the intensity of led lighting and this makes it hard to judge

So maybe if I make it higher off the tank or diffuse the light it should help? Since it is on my quarantine tank nothing is in there long term except some crabs and rock....so acclimating something over weeks would seem kinda pointless. Maybe I should just get a t5 light for it since that is what my other tanks have. I want to upgrade those to LEDs sometime though.

Better to start lower intensity and feed more vs chances of bleaching. If you can't adjust intensity of the fixture remember window screen over the tank and moving the lights higher is your friend. :)

IMO if you have T5's over the displays that your corals are going to be place after quarantine, the. You should have T5's over the quarantine tank as well. Otherwise you are stressing the coral twice before it makes it to the display tank. Keep things the same. You wouldn't have your quarantine tank heated at 80 and your display at 78 and you would t have your SG in your quarantine at 1.020 and In the display at 1.026 so you wouldn't want to have drastic change in the light either. If you plan to change lighting to LED in your display then you should the. Make changes to both systems gradually at the same time. Sorry if this was a bit long winded.
